Under the direction of Valeree Pieper and accompanied by Randin Letendre, both of Moline, the Quad City Music Guild Youth Chorus presents programs in a musical theater genre. The chorus was created in the fall of 2014 with the goal of bringing new young people and their families into Quad City Music Guild. With the Youth Chorus in place, Music Guild is providing an opportunity for youth to become familiar with Broadway style music, learn about our theater, and provide an opportunity to perform in front of a live audience.
The Quad City Music Guild Youth Chorus rehearses weekly during their season and performs concerts twice a year, in addition to other opportunities to perform in the community.
Auditions for the fall 2017 season of the Quad City Music Guild Youth Chorus were held on Sunday, August 27 from 1:00-4:00 pm and Monday, August 28 from 4:30-6:00 pm.
Watch this space for an announcement of auditions for the spring 2018 season.
Auditions are held at the Quad City Music Guild Theater in Prospect Park, 1584 34th Avenue, Moline IL.
Auditioners should bring sheet music for an age-appropriate song, 1 minute or less. No recordings, please.
Students who are currently 3rd thru 8th graders are eligible to audition.
If chosen, rehearsals will be held on Mondays from 4:30 until 6:00pm in the Music Guild lobby, beginning September 11, 2017.
The Quad-City Music Guild Youth Chorus will perform their fall concert Sunday, November 12th, at 2:00pm at the Music Guild Theater.
Under the direction of Valeree Pieper, Moline and accompanied by Randin Letendre, also of Moline, the Youth Chorus will present a program entitled Broadway in Concert, which features selections from some of Music Guild’s past productions, as well as the upcoming winter production. The songs include No One Is Alone, Happiness, Count Your Blessings, and a medley from Annie.
Tickets for concerts are $10 for adults and $5 for children, 12 and under. Tickets may be reserved online at qcmusicguild.com, by calling the QCMG Box Office at 309-762-6610, and at the door the day of the concert.
Quad-City Music Guild is pleased to continue the Youth Chorus concert series and has added the programs to its regular schedule of events at the theater.
Through the Youth Chorus, members get to know Music Guild, develop their talents, learn to sing within a quality vocal group, and experience first-hand the reward of participating as a volunteer in their community.
Who can join the Youth Chorus?
The members of the Youth Chorus are 3rd through 8th grade singers from the Quad Cities and surrounding areas. Members have quality unchanged voices and these hard working, enthusiastic young people practice weekly to prepare for their two concerts.
How do I join the Youth Chorus?
The QCMG Youth Chorus auditions are held in our theater in Prospect Park in Moline twice a year in late summer and winter. Auditioners are asked to bring sheet music of an age-level appropriate song (a minute or less) and be prepared to tap a few rhythms and sing back some simple melodies. An accompanist is provided; no recordings or unaccompanied singing.
Is there a cost to join the Youth Chorus?
Members selected are asked to pay an annual fee of $50 to help offset the cost of music, and to pay for the performance shirt. This is due at the first rehearsal.
