Through the Quad City Music Guild Youth Chorus, youth become familiar with Broadway-style music, learn about our theater, and perform in front of a live audience.
Under the direction of Valeree Pieper and accompanied by Randin Letendre, the Youth Chorus presents programs in a musical theater genre. The chorus was created in the fall of 2014 with the goal of bringing new young people and their families into Quad City Music Guild.
The Youth Chorus rehearses weekly during their season and performs concerts twice a year, in addition to other opportunities to perform in the community.
Auditions are held each summer and winter for the fall and spring seasons of the Quad City Music Guild Youth Chorus.
Auditions for winter/spring 2019 will be announced - watch this space!
Auditions are held at the Quad City Music Guild Theater in Prospect Park, 1584 34th Avenue, Moline IL.
Students who are currently 3rd thru 8th graders are eligible to audition.
Please prepare and bring sheet music for an age-level appropriate song (a minute or less) and be prepared to tap a few rhythms and sing back some simple melodies. An accompanist will be provided, no recordings or unaccompanied singing please.
Please also fill out an audition sheet ahead of time and bring it to the audition. Download it here.
Students will receive notice of audition decisions by email. For those students who join the Youth Chorus, rehearsals will be held on Mondays from 4:30 until 6:00pm in the Music Guild lobby.
The Quad-City Music Guild Youth Chorus will perform their fall concert on November 11th, at 2:00pm at the Music Guild Theater, under the direction of Valeree Pieper and accompanied by Randin Letendre. The program, The Broadway Beat, features selections from past Music Guild productions of The King and I, The Music Man, Grease, White Christmas, and A Christmas Story along with shows we hope to do in the future. The well-known songs include I Whistle a Happy Tune, Seventy-Six Trombones, We Go Together, Count Your Blessings, and Counting Down to Christmas.
Tickets for concerts are $10 for adults and $5 for children, 12 and under. Tickets may be reserved online at qcmusicguild.com, by calling the QCMG Box Office at 309-762-6610, and at the door the day of the concert.
Quad-City Music Guild is pleased to continue the Youth Chorus concert series and has added the programs to its regular schedule of events at the theater.
Through the Youth Chorus, members get to know Music Guild, develop their talents, learn to sing within a quality vocal group, and experience first-hand the reward of participating as a volunteer in their community.
